Project ECHO: Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes

Texans with chronic diseases living in rural and underserved areas often have limited access to care while having the greatest need for specialists. An investment in Project ECHO is an opportunity to make a real difference in the health of these underserved Texans by helping us create a network of care across Texas. ECHO connects physicians in underserved and rural areas via teleconference consultations with our team of specialists led by Medical Director and Hepatologist, Norman Sussman, MD, and Project Coordinator, Lizette Escamilla. Primary care physicians present patient cases to the ECHO team, which then recommends a treatment plan. CHI St. Luke's Health has established primary care clinics in rural and underserved areas as far south as Brownsville and as far west as El Paso.
