Houston, TX (August 28, 2019) – CHI St. Luke’s Health – The Woodlands Hospital and Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Group announced today that Jeremiah Johnson, MD, has joined the hospital in the neurosurgery division, leading the comprehensive stroke center. Dr. Johnson is a board-certified neurosurgeon who is dual fellowship-trained in cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery. This specialized training gives him the rare ability to diagnose and repair blood vessel disorders of the brain, neck, and spine from inside or outside the vessel, depending on the best strategy for the individual patient.

Dr. Johnson’s practices endovascular neurosurgery, and brain microsurgery including cerebral external to internal carotid bypasses. His clinical interests include brain aneurysms, brain tumors, moyamoya disease, carotid endarterectomy, carotid stenting , brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), dural arterial venous fistulas of the brain and spine, cavernous malformations as well as bioinnovation and medical technology development.
He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, where he serves as president of the Young Neurosurgeons Committee, Congress of Neurological Surgeons and Texas Association of Neurological Surgeons. He was recently awarded a Joe Niekro Brain Aneurysm Foundation Patient Choice Award, named a Texas Top Doctor Rising Star, named co-director of the BCM NeuroInnovation laboratory and became a reviewer for the prestigious Journal of Neurosurgery.
Dr. Johnson is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and earned his medical degree from Medical College of Georgia. He completed his residency and endovascular neurosurgery fellowship at University of Miami and his cerebrovascular and microsurgery fellowship at Stanford University.
The comprehensive stroke center designation is designed to recognize the specific capabilities of hospitals that can treat the most complex stroke and cerebrovascular cases. A comprehensive stroke center must have specialized cerebrovascular neurosurgeons available, a neuroscience intensive care unit for stroke patients and the latest advanced imaging capabilities available around the clock.
