Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Technology

At CHI St. Luke’s Health–The Vintage Hospital, we’re dedicated to providing the most advanced medical services possible. We proudly offer Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Technology for partial knee, total knee, and total hip replacement procedures. This technology helps your surgeon create a personalized surgical plan based on your unique anatomy, resulting in more precise placement of the implants for your new hip or knee joint.

Prior to your surgery, you will be required to get a CT Scan of your hip or knee. That image is then uploaded into the Mako System and a 3D model of your joint is created. Your surgeon will then use this model of your joint to develop a customized plan specific for your joint replacement procedure.

During surgery, your doctor will remove any damaged bone and prepare the bone surface for new hip or knee implants following this personalized surgical plan. The robotic-arm assistant is controlled by your surgeon in order to complete the procedure with greater accuracy, allowing for more precise placement of the implants. This meticulous precision results in increased mobility and gets you back to doing what you love.

In both hip and knee replacement procedures, studies show this technology has demonstrated complete accuracy with the placement of the new joints based on postoperative scans of the hip or knee.
