Prenatal & Family Education
The birth of your baby is one of the most exciting events in your life. It is a moment you will cherish and remember always. Whether this is your first or fifth, at CHI St Luke’s Health–The Woodlands Hospital, we offer a variety of classes to help prepare you for childbirth and help you feel more comfortable taking care of yourself and your new baby. Our classes and fees are meant for you and a support person to attend.
Learn where to go and why CHI St. Luke’s Health–The Woodlands will give you a VIP—very important pregnancy—experience! You will find compassionate, personalized family-centered care for you and your new baby! Familiarize yourself with our birth suites and ask questions of our child birth educators. Tours start outside the Family Birthing Center entrance on the second floor, and the whole family is welcome! No registration required.
Length of Tour: approximately 20–30 minutes
This series of classes helps prepare you and your support person for the labor and delivery experience here at CHI St. Luke's Health–The Woodlands Hospital. This class is available in a weekly series, all in one day or even online.
Weekly Series Cost: $75 per couple
Online Course Cost: $25 per couple
When to Attend: Recommended about 10–14 weeks before your due date
This class is your first step to learning the basics about breastfeeding and what to expect in the first few weeks. You will learn about the benefits of breastfeeding as well as multiple techniques to help you succeed. We encourage partners or a family member to attend with the expectant mom.
Cost: $30 per couple
Length of Class: 3 hours
Sometimes breastfeeding is easy, and sometimes it isn’t. Breastfeeding support groups increase the likelihood you will reach your feeding goals. Join us each week for support.
- Breastfeeding mother and baby (up to 1 year of age) are welcome
- Open to the community

- In order to limit infection exposure to babies, please refrain from coming when you or your baby are sick. In order to maintain privacy, please refrain from bringing other children or visitors.

*Note: Although a member of the lactation team is present to facilitate group and answer questions, this is peer group support. Should you require one-on-one lactation support, please check out ILCA.org to find a lactation consultant in your area. If no one arrives to group by 10:30 am, we return to the Family Birthing Center to work with our newly delivered mothers and babies.
Length: 2 hours
This one-time class includes topics such as care of mom and baby, diapering, bathing, helpful hints for adjusting to new roles, and health safety issues.
Length of Class: 2.5–3 hours
This class is highly encouraged for all expectant parents and those who will be taking care of your new baby. This class teaches lifesaving skills for the relief of choking and is designed to give new and expectant parents an overview of Infant CPR. This class is intended for people who want to learn CPR but who do not need a certification.
Cost: $25 per couple
Length of Class: 1–1.5 hours
Want to help your child experience a sense of involvement in the birth of your new baby? This fun, age appropriate, and entertaining class will teach the big brother or sister about special contributions they can make. A child-friendly tour of the Family Birthing Center is included. This class is ideally designed for children between the ages of 3–7 years old.
Cost: $10 per child (Max $20 per family)
Length of Class: 1–1.5 hours
When to Attend: About one month before your delivery
