HeartFlow Technology Treats Coronary Artery Disease
CHI St. Luke’s Health–Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center is the first and only hospital in the Houston area to offer HeartFlow FFRCT Analysis (HeartFlow)—the only non-invasive, 3-D technology to accurately test for coronary artery disease (CAD).
Coronary Artery Disease
As the leading cause of death in men and women in the U.S., CAD is one of the country’s most expensive medical conditions. CAD occurs when fat, cholesterol, or calcium buildup (plaque) blocks or narrows the walls of your coronary arteries.
Plaque buildup reduces blood flow to the heart, causing chest pain, heart attacks, and possibly even death. Until now, doctors have used stress tests to detect CAD. However, stress tests can be imprecise, often not catching signs of CAD and placing patients at greater risk. In addition, stress tests often require additional follow-up testing to be certain no disease is present.
Thanks to this new, cutting edge technology, HeartFlow—a color-coded, 3-D model technology—provides a more accurate and detailed analysis of your arteries to determine if you have CAD. Some benefits include:
