MRI is a supplemental tool for detecting and staging breast cancer and other breast abnormalities. A board-certified, dedicated Breast Radiologist will interpret your MRI. MRI may be used to evaluate abnormalities detected by mammography and/or breast ultrasound. In certain situations such as in high risk patients or women with dense breast tissue, breast MRI can also be used as a screening tool. Current indications for breast MRI include:\
Your physician will give you detailed instructions on how to prepare for your MRI. Please inform your physician of any medications you are taking as well as any allergies you may have. Also inform your physician regarding a recent illness or other medical conditions.
Women should inform their physician if they are pregnant, or if there is any possibility they may be pregnant.
