Reverend Ted Smith, D.Min.

Rev. Theodore (Ted) M. Smith, D. Min., Clinical Pastoral Education Director, is a certified CPE supervisor with ACPE Inc., and an APC board-certified chaplain. Rev. Smith earned a doctorate from Princeton Theological Seminary and a masters from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. He is an elder in the United Methodist Church and has served in hospital ministry since 1977.

Reverend Sarah Knoll Sweeney

Rev. Sarah Knoll Sweeney joined Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in 2013. She is a Certified Supervisor with ACPE, Inc. An Episcopal priest, Rev. Sweeney holds a bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies from the University of Kansas and a Master of Divinity from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, California.

Reverend Deborah Whisnand

Rev. Deborah Whisnand joined the Clinical Pastoral Education faculty in 2015. A UCC minister, she has served in hospital ministry and chaplaincy education for more than 31 years. She has managed CPE programs in Houston and San Antonio and supervised CPE chaplains for the U.S. Army and Air Force. Her experience includes bioethics consultation, as well as professional association and nonprofit administration. Originally from West Texas, she holds a B.A. from Texas Tech University, an M.A. from Rice University, and a Th.M. from Harvard Divinity School.
