Spiritual & Pastoral Care

Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center  remains true to its founding mission. Spiritual Care plays a very active role in every decision that affects the hospital. Our approach, however, goes beyond religion to focus on the healing aspects of spirituality, based on deeply held trust, love, caring, compassion, and respect for well-being and life.

Chaplains
Our chaplains promote and respect patients' values and beliefs, encouraging a holistic approach to healthcare.  You can ask for a chaplain to visit you any time, day or night by calling 832-355-3258.

Actions
At Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, we recognize all faiths and beliefs in our pastoral approach and believe all spiritual and religious rites and symbols represent positive energy, faith, and hope. This recognition drives the actions our pastoral care staff take every day.

Resources
Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center chaplains have specialized education to mobilize spiritual resources so that patients can cope more effectively.  They can provide supportive spiritual care through empathetic listening, demonstrating an understand of a person's needs.

Education
Clinical Pastoral Education is interfaith professional education for ministry. It brings theological students and ministers of all faiths into supervised encounter with persons in crisis. If you are interested in applying to Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center Clinical Pastoral Education program, an application is available online.
