Having cancer and following your treatment regimen can be time-consuming and energy-draining, but caring for your health is essential. You may consider lifestyle changes during and after treatment. We encourage you to make healthy choices.
Get plenty of rest. Eat well. Our nutrition consultant will suggest ways to deal with appetite changes or loss of appetite. Side-effects of treatment differ for each patient. If necessary, your healthcare professionals will help you cope with nausea, fatigue, or pain. Exercise when possible, perhaps starting with short walks and building up as your stamina increases. Your emotional health is also important. Reach out to friends, family members, support groups, and professionals for strength and comfort.
Our cancer patients receive a Personal Health Manager packet, provided by the American Cancer Society. This free kit includes information about cancer, treatment, and side-effects. It provides space to organize your paperwork and keep track of appointments, test results, and medicines.
