Percy Howard III, MD, a native of Huntsville, Texas, began his journey in healthcare by serving four years in the Air Force as a medic. After an honorable discharge from the military, he worked his way through Houston Baptist University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He attended medical school at The University of Texas at Galveston and completed his Family Medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine.
His love of science and desire to understand how the body works initially inspired him to pursue medicine. Taking care of a wide range of ages, Dr. Howard enjoys seeing the broad variety of life through his patients. His philosophy of care involves providing a wealth of information and guidance to his patients, becoming a team to discover the best path for the patient. He enjoys caring for patients who are actively involved in their care plan, creating a doctor and patient partnership.
He chose to join the CHI St. Luke’s Health family because he wanted to bring his 20 years of experience to a new organization and have the opportunity to share how he felt the practice of medicine should be, with strong emphasis on individualized patient care. His commitment to patients is demonstrated by his enjoyment of working long hours, even on some Saturdays, to make a difference in their lives.
Board-certified in Family Medicine, Dr. Howard uses a relaxed approach to patient visits, but emphasizes preventative care to improve long-term outcomes. Dr. Howard is a huge advocate for preventative care; he focuses on preventing disease as he takes care of the full spectrum of life. He cares for patients from age 10 through adulthood.
