Interventional neuroradiology, an accredited medical subspecialty of neuroradiology, uses minimally invasive image-based technologies and procedures to diagnose and treat disorders of the head, neck and spine. It comprises cutting edge imaging, interventional and surgical treatment of stroke, aneurysm and other neurovascular disorders.

Neuroradiologists guide catheters (tiny narrow tubes) and other micro instruments through blood vessels (typically inserted in the groin) to reach and treat the target from within the body. Minimally invasive procedures require only a small incision to insert equipment such as a laparoscope or endoscope.
