CHI St. Luke’s Health (CHI St. Luke’s) is proud to announce that two of its nurses have been named among the top 150 nurses in this year’s Houston Chronicle’s “Salute to Nurses.”

The annual program honors those nurses who selflessly serve others all year long. Hospitals, clinics, schools, and patients are encouraged to nominate Houston’s best nurses. Then, the top 150 nurses are selected by a panel of experts. CHI St. Luke’s recipients include:

  • Janice Bates, RN, CHI St. Luke’s Health–The Woodlands Hospital, has more than 35 years of experience in nursing. She began her career in orthopedic nursing and now specializes in medical surgical nursing in telemetry, where her focus is on cardiac patients. Janice has worked in this unit at CHI St. Luke’s Health–The Woodlands Hospital for the past six years.
  • Jessica Reyes, CRRN, CHI St. Luke’s Health–Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, began her career in the Philippines as an occupational nurse 20 years ago. In 2005, she joined Baylor St. Luke’s as a rehab nurse. Presently, she works in the rehab unit where she educates patients to help them get back to their lives after strenuous surgeries.

“I was surprised when I heard I was nominated,” said Reyes. “I’m very thankful to be recognized among the top nurses in Houston.”

Bates adds, “This is a special moment in my nursing career. I work with many smart and talented nurses, so it’s a great feeling to receive such an honor.”

Bates, Reyes, and other honorees will be recognized at the Salute to Nurses Luncheon today and in a special section of the Houston Chronicle on Sunday, May 10.
