Great News for Patients with Aetna Health Insurance

Overview

After several months of negotiations, CHI St. Luke’s Health and Aetna have reached a new, multi-year agreement. The agreement will secure access to in-network care for all patients with Aetna insurance at all CHI St. Luke’s hospitals and facilities, effective immediately.

Both Aetna commercial and Medicare Advantage (MA) members will be able to continue their care at all of our hospitals and facilities without any changes or disruptions and without the threat of going out of network. Our new contract will not only protect this access to care, but also better support our ongoing efforts to improve care, while reducing overall costs.

In this rapidly changing healthcare environment, it is essential for hospitals, physicians and insurance companies to work together to ensure the community has access to high-quality, cost-effective care. Establishing more collaborative relationships within the healthcare community is crucial to our ongoing success and allows us to work together toward improving access, quality and the cost of healthcare services in our community. Our contract with Aetna is an important piece of our overall efforts to strengthen our ability to fulfill our mission: enhancing community health through high-quality, cost-effective care.

What This Means for You

All Aetna members, including those with commercial (provided through an employer or purchased individually) and Medicare Advantage plans, will continue to receive in-network care at all of our hospitals and facilities. This new contract secures all members’ access to care on an in-network basis, effective immediately. All patients should continue their care at CHI St. Luke’s and keep all scheduled appointments.

If you already applied for Aetna’s Transition of Care benefits, you can still receive in-network care at all CHI St. Luke’s hospitals and facilities. The application will be null-in-void due to the new agreement.

Our new agreement with Aetna affects all CHI St. Luke’s hospitals and facilities (listed below). You can continue in-network access to care at any and all of these locations.

  • CHI St. Luke’s Health–Lakeside Hospital
  • CHI St. Luke’s Health–Patients Medical Center
  • CHI St. Luke’s Health–Sugar Land Hospital
  • CHI St. Luke’s Health–The Woodlands Hospital
  • Community Emergency Centers: San Felipe, Holcombe, Pearland
  • CHI St. Luke’s Health Diagnostic & Treatment Center–Kirby Glen
  • CHI St. Luke’s Medical Group–Galleria
  • CHI St. Luke’s Medical Group–Texas Medical Center
  • Wound Care Clinics: Patients Medical Center, The Woodlands Hospital, Kirby Glen
